Thoughts On Upward Bound

 

What is it like being around high school students vs. college students?

High school students have more energy but a little less focus. When you can direct that energy though - watch out!

How did you get involved in Upward Bound and why?

I got involved with UB when I made the move from research to teaching. I thought UB students would be a fun group to be with.

What is your fondest memory in Upward Bound so far

Watching 31 UB students turn on the computers they just built for the very first time.

How do you motivate yourself at work?

I keep so many balls in the air at one time that if I zone out, they all hit the ground.

Besides working for UB, what are some of your hobbies?

Skiing, cycling, mountain climbing, backpacking, rock climbing, and photography.

If you were an Upward Bound student, how helpful would it have been for your college career?

I got really bored in high school and started to slack off. If I'd been in UB, I probably wouldn't have lost  momentum.
