Thoughts On Upward Bound

What is it like being around high school students vs. college students?

High school students have a lot more energy than college students. Additional effort from me needs to be given in order for the high school students not to get bored.

How did you get involved in Upward Bound and why?

Dave contacted me after Marciano Rodriguez (from the IC) recommended me.

What is your fondest memory in Upward Bound so far?

I am enthralled by the great comments/questions that the students ask during lecture.

How do you motivate yourself at work?

Think and explain at their level. It allows me to communicate with them a lot easier and it's more fun!

Besides working for UB, what are some of your hobbies?

Volunteering at Harborview, reading novels, skiing, and hiking.

If you were an Upward Bound student, how helpful would it have been for your college career?

A lot! I know if I were an Upward Bound student, I would have received the support I needed throughout college - especially the emotional support to tell me to keep on moving forward despite negative attitudes.
