Thoughts On Upward Bound

 

What is it like being around high school students vs. college students?

While college students are engaging to work with because of their experience, I have really enjoyed working with high school students because of their enthusiasm and honesty.

How did you get involved in Upward Bound and why?

I was invited to teach the Lecture class 3 years ago and I enjoyed it so much, that I keep returning.

What is your fondest memory in Upward Bound so far?

Watching Konimo and the students perform.

How do you motivate yourself at work?

Teaching is the most exciting thing I can imagine doing as "work". Students and ideas motivate me daily.

Besides working for UB, what are some of your hobbies?

Working on my dissertation, which is not fun, nor is it a hobby, but it is time consuming and painful.

If you were an Upward Bound student, how helpful would it have been for your college career?

If I had had the opportunity to be a part of Upward Bound, I would have found high school more interesting and I would  have been prepared for college homework, which I wasn't.
