1.What were the main objectives/goals for the class?
The main goal of my class is to prepare the students for a college environment.
Along the way I hope that my students gain an understanding of their place in the Universe. I hope that they understand the roll that the scientific process and astronomy contribute to science as well as to the imagination and technology of the everyday human.

2.What are your expectations from the students?
I expect the students to bring curiosity to class. It is very important that they spend some time reviewing class notes and taking care in preparing assignments. I also expect that when they don't know they ask questions.

3.Briefly describe the structure of the class? What tactics do you use to teach the material? Are there any special projects or activities?
There is mostly lecture. I do try to bring some discussion and lab work but my main thrust is to have students effectively learn to take notes and use those notes to answer complex questions. One of my techniques for doing this is to write some questions out before hand so the students know what they will be expected to know after lecture.

4.How does this class help prepare the students for college?
I try to give my students a flavor of university style teaching. They learn to take notes, do lab work and hopefully think at a more advanced level than they had before. I am also trying to give them university level exams.

5.Describe the overall participation in the classroom?
I am not sure what this is asking but the participation in my classroom has been great. People seem comfortable asking questions and talking about science. I am very pleased with the in class discussions.
