Problem Solving/ Statistics Course Description

This class is divided into two sections, problem solving and statistics. During the problem-solving piece, students will focus on learning the specific problem solving techniques of drawing a diagram, systematic lists and eliminating possibilities. The secondary theme is running throughout the problem solving unit is the explanation of solutions. The students will produce both written and oral explanations of their solutions (or failures). Rather than learning a strategy and then practicing it on twnty simple problems, the students will work on fewer, but more challenging and though provoking problems.
