1.
What were the main objectives/goals for the class?
The students in the web design class create the online web magazine
which
describes the summer session for the University of Washington
Upward Bound
Program. As in previous years, they have risen to the task at
hand and are going
outstanding work.
2.
What are your expectations from the students?
I just want the students to make a meaningful contribution to
the web site with
the understanding that each student has something different to
contribute.
3.
Briefly describe the structure of the class? What tactics do you
use to
teach the material? Are there any special projects or activities?
More than most UB classes this is a "doing" class. So,
students are required to
learn on the job. Their project is to produce a yearbook like
web site that
represents all of the UB students.
4.
How does this class help prepare the students for college?
Part of succeeding in college is being computer literate including
being web
savvy. Since the internet has become the dominant research at
most universities,
web savvy students have the advantage.
5.
Describe the overall participation in the classroom?
The web class is all participation--the students succeed by making
a significant
contribution to the web site.
