Latin:
Teacher: Shawn Allen
Objective: This course aims to
help students build a college- level English vocabulary through the study
of Latin roots, prefixes, and suffixes used in the English words. By looking
closely at the influence of Latin on English words, students will compile
a working vocabulary and will master a core of Latin roots that will provide
them with the means to decipher many of the college- level words they
encounter outside of this course. In addition, students will learn how
words are formed in English and gain a basic understanding of the development
of the language.
