1. What is your favorite
quote? What is your interpretation for this quote?
We cannot all do great things, only
small things with great love. Mother
Teresa
2. What college, you are
attending or have attended? What is best or worst about the college?
I graduated from the UW back in
the day. UW is a family tradition, three
generations from my family have attended UW. My father immigrant from
the
Philippines back in the 1950s. When he graduated from UW he became a very
loyal and committed DAWG. He was so committed that he taught all my
brothers, sisters and me the UW fight song when we were just in grade
school? Now that is a loyal Huskie don't you think? My father and mother
always stressed the importance of a college education and UW was the place
to be.
3. What is your plan in
the next 5 or 10 years from now?
I plan to make the best of each
day I am given so that in 5 or 10 years from
now I will still continue to be happy with the choices I have made.

4. What do you think of
Upward Bound students?
I think all UB students are awesome!
Everyday I learn something new from
each student. I think UB students are incredible because they are willing
to
do the hard work to get to college. UB students sacrifice their summers
and
challenge themselves when other teenagers are at home sleeping in until
noon. The UB students are the pioneers in their families, they're learning
the ropes for future generations as they prepare themselves for higher
education. I marvel at all the discipline, dedication and commitment I
have
witnessed from all my students.I also have a lot of fun getting to know
each
one of them as we work together to prepare their personal statements,
college applications, scholarships and all the other things necessary
for
college entrance. It's a great feeling to have a job that provides so
much
joy. Watching the UB students'growth and progress is very rewarding. UB
kids are da bomb!
5. If you got all the power
in the whole world, what would you change about Upward Bound? Alternatively,
if not. Then what would you change about the United State as a resident.
If I had all the power I would create
diverse K-12 schools that would
provide equitable and quality educations for all students. If I could
change
UB I think I would like to start up Upward Bound Schools throughout the
nation. Money would not be a problem so UB would provide many field trips
to
enhance classroom lessons. For example if we were studying hunger in the
world, I'take the students out in the field to see and learn more about
hunger in differnt areas of the world. We'd problem solve the hunger issues
and select communities where we could actually provide solutions. I'd
also
like to create a mentorship program to help my students make connections
with committed role models that might work in future industries that my
students might be interested in learning more about. I'd create an alumni
reunion so that all UB grads would be able to stay connected even if they
graduated from different schools. I'd also ask the UB grads to 'volunteer'
their time to encourage and help the current UB students to become the
best
that they could be.
