Larry Uhlman
1. What is your favorite quote? What is your interpretation for this quote? Favorite Quote - "Art is our armour against brutality" (E. M. Forster) My interpretation is that art - through it beauty and its reflective power - protects us from those savage and violent parts of ourselves by transforming us into compassionate and thoughtful human beings. 2. What college, you are attending or have attended? What is best or worst about the college? College - Brown University - no core curriculum 3. What is your plan in the next 5 or 10 years from now? Plans- buy a house in the country, have another child, travel, read, write, listen to opera, play my guitar, take walks with my wife and daughter . . .
4. What do you think of Upward Bound students? On UB Students - I love working with UBers; they are always respectful, honest, talented, vivacious and inquisitive!!! 5. If you got all the power in the whole world, what would you change about Upward Bound? Alternatively, if not. Then what would you change about the United State as a resident. Change about the U.S. - I would work hard to de-emphasize the commercialistic focus of this society. $$$'s over real concern for individuals and the environment makes no short or long term sense.
