1. What is your favorite quote? What is your interpretation for this quote?

"You put the happy in my ness, you put the good times into my fun" Ben Harper. This is my favorite quote because Ben Harper is one of my favorite musicians and it reminds me of the value of great friends.

2. What college, you are attending or have attended? What is best or worst about the college?

Colleges attended: The College of Wooster, OH for undergrad, Vanderbilt
University, Nashville TN for my master's degree, and worked on my PhD at University of Washington, and will hopefully finish at University of Colorado. The College of Wooster was great because it was so small, and students received lots of personal attention and it was easy to get to know fellow students. Vanderbilt was also a nice size, and I was fortunate to have a wonderful advisor for my master's thesis.

3. What is your plan in the next 5 or 10 years from now?

In the next 5 to 10 years I hope to either finish my PhD or start teaching at a small to mid-size college. Or work on a teaching certificate and teach high school earth science or chemistry. But my real dream would be to open a restaurant on the beach somewhere exotic.

4. What do you think of Upward Bound students?

I think Upward Bound students are great. They're intelligent, lively, and pretty funny!

5. If you got all the power in the whole world, what would you change about Upward Bound? Alternatively, if not. Then what would you change about the United State as a resident.

I don't think I would change much about Upward Bound. And the U.S. I think could use some work on its education system, especially in the lower grades. Just speaking from experience, I didn't enjoy school until high school, when we were finally allowed to go on field trips and do more hands on activities. I think more elementary schools need to take advantage of hands on learning.
