What does Upward Bound mean to you? How has it changed you overall?
I was a UB participant when I was in high school, and it made up much of the difference, with few resources and mentors around, in my getting to college. Without UB helping me fill the gap, I doubt if I would have gone to college even though I was considered a promising student. If I did do it without UB, certainly it would not have been right after high school, with college credits in tow. Of course education is the key to changing social disparities, so I am proof that education leads to a better life, and Upward Bounds leads to a better education.

What influenced/inspired you to become a teacher?
I believe most of society’s problems can be managed better, and we’d all be happier—if equal and worthwhile education needs were addressed earliest in the lives of people, and continued throughout. Teachers are required at every level. My choice to teach, amongst other things, is mainly just a practical way to make myself useful in the world while doing something I like.

What do you enjoy doing during your free time?
The outdoors. Catching up with friends and people special to me. Traveling when there’s space. Mostly I’m always trying to work at something, but something that’s fun.

What is your favorite color? Why?

What is one weird fact about you that we don't know right off the bat?
