What does Upward Bound mean to you? How has it changed you overall?
Upward Bound means hope, inspiration and challenge. Having been here twenty years, I've had the great opportunity to see many students change their lives and aspire to their dreams through education--the main purpose for why we exist.  Upward Bound is the fishing pole that will allow students to reach their goal for college when they learn how to catch those fish (develop skills for college) well.

What influenced/inspired you to become a teacher?
I have always wanted to be a teacher --every since childhood.  I love organizing and communicating information and I love to learn. I actually learn a lot from students also. When I read my first book, it inspired me to engage others in critical discussion and the rest is history.

What do you enjoy doing during your free time?
Learn, and when there is time, creative endeavors.  I also spend time with my family --Mom, sons, brothers, little nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

What is your favorite color? Why?
Purple --it is a spiritual color that calls to other colors in a very harmonic way.

What is one weird fact about you that we don't know right off the bat?
In native culture crows are sometimes considered messengers of misfortune. When a crow caws or talks to me, I know something bad is about to happen, and it has always proved true.
