What does Upward Bound mean to you? How has it changed you overall?
Upward Bound has changed my outlook on life.  I knew there were some students in dire circumstances who needed help to get to college and be successful in life.  But, I never knew quite how many and the magnitude of the overwhelming daily routines that some have to go through.  I no longer take some things for granted which I may have in the past.  Working with UB has definitely given me a new prespective on life.

What influenced/inspired you to become a teacher?
I never thought about teaching until that fateful summer of 2002, my first summer with UB.  For the fist time while in college, to gain experience in my field I was looking for a summer job that had to do with my major.  I wasn't having much luck with internships so my girlfriend at the time showed me a job opening for a math instructor that she came across when searching for summer jobs.  Ever since that first summer I've loved each minute of being an instuctor.  I hope that feeling never dies.

What do you enjoy doing during your free time?
I love to go sailing on warm days and racing sailboats on any type of day, even if it's cold and raining!!  I like playing any type of competitive sports, mostly basketball, baseball and football.  Indoors, I like doing math....math, all day, every day!!! :)

What is your favorite color? Why?
Green.  I don't really remember why I chose that color as a kid, but I think it has to do with Seattle and Washington being so green, especially compared to other big cities and states.  Plus, my car is green.  :)

What is one weird fact about you that we don't know right off the bat?
I don't know if it's weird, but some of the students think it's pretty weird........that my nickname in high school was "Seadog".  I'll let you put two and two together to figure out why.
