Latin:
Venimus, Vidimus, et
Vicimus; we came, we saw, and we conquered. We walked into the
class reluctantly of course, about to learn a dead language,
but by the time we left, the mother of romance languages had
enamored us. More than teaching us about Latin, our instructor
taught us about basic language principles and parts of speech.
We thought we knew English, but it wasn’t until we were on our
way out of the Latin class that we felt like true emperors and
empresses of almost all Western language.
