Instructor: Jody Olney (William Gates Hall, Room 118)

This is a class that comes right after lecture. This is where we can talk to the teacher about any questions we have since this is a smaller class than the first period lecture. Jody always tries to make sure everyone understands the topic by asking everyone in her class if they needed help with anything. This is the class where we get our assignments and tests back and go over them. This class is also mainly for preparing for our final project, a mock trial. We learn how to write opening statements, closing statements, and create direct and cross examination questions.
Generally this class is preparing students for their final project for the law portion, mock trial. We start with the steps in a trial, and then discuss in more detail what those steps look like to prepare them for their part in mock trial. This class will help students better understand the process by which legal disputes are resolved, work cooperatively with their classmates, speak in front of a group and gain confidence in their ability to act professionally.
Her favorite part of class is the activity portion where students can be themselves and let her know that what they've covered has resonated with them. Students are pretty comfortable with one another and able to communicate openly with Jody and other classmates. "The level of participation thus far has been great and we're moving through the material on schedule."
