"I am who I am"

I am who I am because of the people of Seattle. They are what make up this beautiful Emerald City. In Seattle there is a lot of diversity. To me, Seattle is very different compared to other cities. In Seattle people let you know that they care. They let you know in all kinds of different ways. I have to admit, Seattle does have its share of cocky, rude and very irritating people, I have to say, there doesn't seem to be as many as in others.

In our community, festivals are a big part of who we are. Here in Seattle we have many festivals. One of the festivals is called, "El dia de los muertos." El dia de los muertos (The day of the dead) is a celebration that honors the dead. Families from all over the world travel to other countries to visit the graves of loved ones. My people coming together at these celebrations, shapes and shows who I am.

There is another celebration that is really important to me. This celebration is known as "Cinco de Mayo." Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of a war that the Mexicans won over the French. Cinco de Mayo is a known celebration across Seattle and all over the world. The restaurants and different communities have their own celebrations. For example, Aztecas, a famous Mexican restaurant here in Seattle, throws a big party with a d.j. or possibly a band. Most of all, the biggest attraction of Cinco de Mayo is at the Seattle Center. Being that there is a lot of gang activity that takes place here in Seattle, it's good to know that nothing really happens at these "get togethers." The only kind of activity that takes place at the Seattle Center, is nothing but fun and games and a lot of Hispanics getting together to have a good time. The way that this celebration shapes and shows who I am, is the way that my people come together to just have a good time. It also shows other kinds of ethnic groups who and what I am. And as you can see, I am a very intelligent, beautiful, and smart Hispanic. It's the unity that makes me happy. I LOVE IT!!

There is so much diversity here in Seattle. There is religious diversity, sexual diversity, ethnic diversity, and so on. There are so many different kinds of people here in Seattle, you can learn about these groups and possibly become really good friends with someone. To me, Seattle is the most beautiful place in the world. Sure there are other places might be more fun and hotter, maybe even better, but what other city do you know of that has so much unity and love for everything that is here. Seattle is my home, I love it! It wouldn't be any other way!
