Seattle is a place I'll never forget because it's the place where my life began in a positive way. Before I came here, my family wasn't happy in Laos. It was so hard to get a job and the economy was very poor. So, we decided to come live somewhere in the United States. We picked Seattle because most of our relatives live here, and we heard that it was a nice place to live.
I remember how excited I was when I first arrived. As I came out of the airport, I could feel the excitement in me and the curiosity about the things that were going on around me. In a way, I felt scared because I felt like I didn't belong here; but in another way I felt proud because I made it here with my whole family. This was going to be the beginning of a whole new life for us, in a positive way.
To start, my parents found jobs, and my brothers, sisters and I started school. Later, my two big brothers and sisters found jobs. Then we decided to buy a new house. As for me, I was just finishing elementary school; now I'm in high school. I decided to spend most of my time going to school, instead of getting a job because it's the best way for me to receive a good education so that I can get a good job. Furthermore, it will help me make good decisions for myself during the good and the bad times in life.
For me, all the worry about the airplane crashing is gone. It's time for me to cool down and start thinking of going to school and reaching my dreams. As I grow older, I have adjusted to the people and the environment of Seattle and realize that this is a wonderful place to live. It is a place that I'll never forget because it has offered me a positive way to live.
