To start out some of you may not know where Yuba City, CA is. It is a town about 35 miles north of the state's capital, Sacramento. When I first moved here in 1986 Yuba City was still pretty much a rural town. It relied on the crops it raised. Then a few years later the orchards were being cut down and a huge number of houses were being built. The town grew and a lot of new stores and industries moved there. The schools became overcrowded. One of our two middle school(6th, 7th, and 8th grades) had almost 1,000 students. Our only high school had 2,500 students. This has shaped my life to being used to living in a crowded place. I am used to not getting all the attention I need at school. There are at least 28 to around 35 students in one classroom. Having everything crowded has really changed my life. In the lower grades I was used to getting all the attention I needed. Then the town grew and I had to make major adjustments. Another way Yuba City has shaped my life is the people. I moved there from Hawaii when I was 5 years old. I was a lot different from all the people. Now I know a lot of people and almost all of them are nice to me. The attitude of the people shaped my life in a good way. Overall I would say that Yuba City has shaped my life in a good way and I am thankful that it has.
