ORLAND

What is Orland ? Orland is a city approximately a hundred miles north of Sacramento, California on Interstate I-5. It's population is five thousand. Our economy is based on agriculture, a fiber glass company and commuting jobs. Some may say this town sounds slow , but I just think we're relaxed and we're not in a rush for advanced technology. When living in Orland by the time you are a teenager you can identify what are all the crops being grown are. Also when passing by a dairy or cattle ranch you can determine which is which by the smell of them. Agriculture is what built Orland and is still very prominent in the community.

Orland has the small town mentality that is so rare in communities today. Everybody seems to know everybody around Orland. The people of Orland are extremely friendly. When walking down the street a person you are not familiar with will say hi or good afternoon to you as if you had been friends for years. A person could walk downtown in the middle of the night and not have to worry about being assaulted or murdered. You could say Orland is pretty safe. The safeness and friendliness of Orland allows people to feel care free.

Orland is also what you could say a nice family town. The crime rates in Orland are low. The schools have good teachers and are not over crowded. The community also pulls together in a times of need. For instance when I was three our house burnt down. Within a couple of days people from the community had donated almost everything we needed for a new house. Even though Orland is small it has beneficial qualities, such as friendliness and security that larger cities do not have. The environment of Orland is comfortable and does not share the over crowded and overwhelming feelings larger cities portray.
