UFA NEWS:
There are three topics today
- UFA and ICC meetings at the APS/DPP
- Funding opportunity from OFES
- Funding opportunity in IFS
Many of us are still reeling from the Sept. 11 attack. The best way for us=
to fight back is to refocus and work harder at whatever we do. I hope that=
anyone who normally goes to the APS/DPP will certainly go this year.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITY FROM OFES
The Office of Fusion Energy Sciences (OFES) of the Office of Science (SC),
U.S. Department of Energy is calling for grant applications to its Plasma
Physics Junior Faculty Development Program. Applications should be from
tenure-track faculty investigators who are currently involved in
experimental or theoretical plasma physics research and should be submitted
through a U.S. academic institution. The purpose of this program is to
support the development of the individual research programs of
exceptionally talented scientists and engineers early in their careers. If
you are interested please visit the website:

FUNDING OPPORTUNITY IN ICF
In continuation of the Inertial Fusion Science in Support of Stockpile
Stewardship Grant Program, the DOE plans to expand the university program
and conduct a competitive solicitation for research projects in additional
areas of fundamental science relevant to the stockpile stewardship
program. About $10M is expected to be available in FY02.
