Strategic Plan
In its summary recommendation actions the Graduate
School Council advised a
new round of strategic planning be launched in the immediate future to build
on recent accomplishments while engaging a wider range of faculty in
charting a clear course for the future to become one of the top 3 programs
in the field (See initial set of questions). To this end, the Program is
starting a strategic planning process in collaboration with the faculty and
students to lay out the program's long term goals and a strategy to
accomplish them.
Towards envisioning the Program's Strategic Plan, a
first retreat has been
held on November 4th to develop the strategic planning process. We addressed
the following questions:
What are the important Questions?
Who are the Participants or Stakeholders?
What Process should be utilized?
What are the Elements of the plan?
What Indicators or Benchmarks should be measured?
Considering the target completion date, then what are the Milestones?
The Retreat produced a strategy and a developed a strategic
planning process
summarized in the attached document (Summary Table, Process, and Minutes).
At this stage we welcome your constructive comments on the strategy and
creative ideas of how to engage the larger community.
This Blog has been designed to support the discussion
at the various stages
of the process and make it visible to the Ph.D. Program Community.
