Dr. Koyle has been board certified by the American Board of Urology since 1986 and re-certified in 1994 and 2004.
Education
Dr. Koyle received his MD from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg and did his residency at the Harvard Program in Urology as well as a fellowship in Organ Transplantation at Pacific Medical Center, University of California, Davis and the Harvard Program in Urology.
Dr. Koyle has also received additional training and certification in lasers in urologic surgery and pediatric endourology and laparoscopy.
Prior to coming to the University of Washington in 2007, Dr. Koyle was Chief of Pediatric Urology as well as Professor of Surgery and Vice- Chief, Division of Urology at the University of Colorado. During his 19 year tenure there, he was the first to perform laparoscopic nephrectomy in an infant and also the first surgeon in the USA to promote the use of the Malone Antegrade Continence Enema (MACE) and to describe the utility of the Bianchi approach for inguinal scrotal pathology.
Research Interests
Dr. Koyle's clinical and research focus is on transplantation, tumors, complex genitourinary reconstruction, urinary tract infections and reflux, and minimally invasive surgery in children.
Affiliations
Dr. Koyle is past president of the Rocky Mountain Urology Society, The Society for Pediatric Urology, and American Association for Pediatric Urology.
As well as being on the editorial board of Journal of Urology, Journal of Pediatric Urology, Pediatric Surgery International and being associate editor of Dialogues in Pediatric Urology, he has been an author or co-author on over 200 peer reviewed publications, chapters and manuscripts.

Dr. Koyle has received numerous awards and honors throughout his years of practice of which these are just a few:
- Selected Member of National Register of Who's Who
- named one of "America's Top Doctors" 6 times and "Best Doctors in America" 3 times
- Colorado's Physician of the Year in 2003
- selected for "Who's Who in American Education" 3 times
- selected "Who's Who in the World" in 2007
Koyle is also sought after internationally as a lecturer and visiting professor.
