Education & Training
Dr. Lange graduated from Washington University Medical School and received his general surgery and urology training at the University of Rochester, Duke University and the University of Minnesota. He gained laboratory research experience at the National Institutes of Health and the University of Minnesota. After joining the faculty at the University of Minnesota, he rose to Professor and Vice-Chairman of Urologic Surgery and Chief of the VA Urology Section.
In1988 Dr. Lange moved to the University of Washington as professor and chairman of the Department of Urology. In addition to being chair, he conducts a large clinical practice in urologic cancer and is Director of the Institute for Prostate Cancer Research, a multidisciplinary research initiative of the UW and Fred Hutchinson Research Center.
Dr. Lange is American Board of Urology certified.
Accomplishments
Dr. Lange has served on many editorial boards including the New England Journal of Medicine. He is a member of numerous professional and honorary societies, served as President of the Society of Urologic Oncology and is a Trustee of the American Board of Urology. He is internationally recognized for his clinical and experimental work in a variety of genitourinary cancers especially prostate and testis and has received many national awards for this work. He has authored or co-authored over 450 articles and three books.
