  • Genetic testing and counseling through the Program in the Genetics in Infertility (PROGENI)
  • Non-invasive and microsurgical sperm retrieval procedures combined with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
  • Fertility preservation through sperm cryopreservation
  • Microsurgical vasectomy reversal
  • Varicocele evaluation and treatment
  • Hormone evaluation and replacement
  • Vasectomy (no scalpel technique)

Current Research Funding

  • The California Urology Foundation, Walsh, T (PI) 3/2007 – Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) and Pediatric Outcomes The major goal of this epidemiologic study is to determine whether children who were conceived through the use of ICSI are at higher risk for the development of adverse childhood outcomes, including neurodevelopmental outcomes as compared to children conceived naturally or with lower levels of reproductive technology.
  • NIH RFA-HD-05-040 (K-12) (PI: Carroll, P), Walsh, T (K-12 Scholar) 3/10/2007 – Male Reproductive Health Research Career Development Program The major goal of this project is to train new academic faculty in the specialty of male reproductive health at UCSF.
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH) Loan Repayment Program (LRP) 7/2007- Walsh, T (PI) The NIH LRP provides financial payment for educational debt accumulated by individuals dedicated to an academic career. The program requires a minimum two year commitment to academia, with at least 50% dedicated research time.
  • Mount Zion Health Fund (MZHF), Walsh, T (PI) 8/2007-8/2008 Case Cohort Study of Male Infertility and the Risk of Cancer The major goal of this case-cohort study is to determine whether men with a history of infertility are at higher risk for developing cancer.
