Urologic Oncology Fellowship

Overview

The University of Washington Department of Urology is seeking applicants for a fellowship in Urologic Oncology beginning July 1, 2010. This urologic oncology fellowship is accredited by the Society of Urologic Oncology and is structured as a two-year training program. The clinical year will involve clinical urologic oncology at the University of Washington Medical Center. The Fellowship will provide advanced training in all aspects of Urologic Oncology in a clinically active academic environment. The trainee will obtain in-depth experience in the clinical and surgical management of all major urologic cancers, mentored by five faculty members with urologic oncology expertise. Two additional urologic oncology faculty members are currently being recruited for appointment beginning July 2010. The fellowship will involve significant experience in laparoscopic/robotic approaches, didactic curriculum, and formal rotations in GU medical and radiation oncology. The research year offers several potential research opportunities.

The University of Washington School of Medicine is ranked in the top 10 nationally, and ranked second in NIH funding for research. Additionally, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and University of Washington are granted several lines of NIH funding in GU oncology and oversee the Pacific Northwest Prostate Cancer SPORE. Opportunities include basic/molecular science, health services research, and epidemiology.

All candidates must be able to obtain an unrestricted Washington state medical license.
