Daniel Avery

Daniel Avery

Dr. Avery recently received his medical degree from Oregon Health Sciences University School of Medicine. During this time, he was awarded the Tarter Trust Fellowship for his research about Deflux. He was also awarded the Rose Award which was given by a patient for recognition of outstanding care. Dr. Avery recently presented a case about an ureteroarterial fistula at the 2007 Western Section AUA Conference. His hobbies include bicycling, running, hiking, traveling, and cooking.

Lisly Chery

Lisly Chery

Dr. Chery graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in June 2009. His research experience includes being a student researcher in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he participated in radiation oncology research and examined the efficacy of different regiments for the treatment of breast cancer patients.

Henry Gottsch

Henry Gottsch

A graduate of University of Washington School of Medicine, Dr. Gottsch has presented on topics such as ubiquitin stress response in rats with hibernating serum to MA effects of hibernation in bears on ubiquitin and IGF-1 mRNA. He is open to exploring the subspecialties of urology. Personal interests include scuba diving, photography, and gardening.

Maahum Haider

Maahum Haider

Dr. Haider recently graduated from the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine in May 2010, where she volunteered her time at the Santa Monica Shelter and UC Riverside’s Student-Run Health Clinic.  Dr. Haider’s research experience includes being a student researcher at UCLA Department of Urology where she studied the effect of Xenotropic Murine Leukemia Virus-Related Virus (XMLRV) infection on the development of prostate cancer in genetically susceptible individuals.  Her hobbies include biking, snowboarding, anthropology, and basketball.

Brandon Haynes

Brandon Haynes

Dr. Haynes received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in May 2011, where he worked as a research assistant building a database of artificial urinary sphincter patients. He was one of 12 senior medical students appointed to serve on the admissions committee as a full voting member. During his first year of medical school, he planned and executed a free community health screening and health forum in cooperation with a local barbershop which gained local media attention.  Dr. Haynes enjoys traveling and movies, and is fluent in French.

James Hotaling

James Hotaling

Dr. Hotaling graduated from Duke University School of Medicine, where, in 2004, he received a Gold Star for excellence in patient care, as well as a scholarship for Bioengineering Research that same year. Dr. Hotaling is interested in pursuing pediatric urology. He has prepared several manuscripts, including one on improving prostate cancer detection and PSA screening in men under 50. He has several outdoor interests, ranging from participating in triathlons to high altitude alpine climbing.

Ryan Hsi

Ryan Hsi

Dr. Hsi recently graduated from the Loma Linda University School of Medicine where was awarded 1st place in a Scientific Poster Session at the Annual Postgraduate Convention in Loma Linda in 2008. He was also the recipient of the Walter E. Macpherson Society Student-Faculty Rsearch Award that same year. Dr. Hsi has an impressive number of publications on subjects ranging from Mechanisms of Hemostatic Failure During Laparascopic Nephrectomy to Low Radiation Dosage CT Scan for the Detection of Small Renal Calculi. His hobbies include fishing, travel, and playing the violin.

Laura Leddy

Laura Leddy

Dr. Leddy graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, where she was selected as one of eight student members of the Admissions Committee. She was also awarded the Lettie Pate Whitehead Scholarship by the Medical School Foundation. Some of Dr. Leddy's research experience includes a pilot project on the relationship of renal cortical thickness and hydronephrosis in pediatric patients as an indicator of renal function. Some of her hobbies are backpacking, hiking, and cooking.

Franklin Lee

Franklin Lee

Dr. Lee received his Medical Degree from Jefferson Medical College in May 2010, where he was the recipient of the Measey Scholarship.  Dr. Lee’s research experience includes being a research assistant at Jefferson Medical College Department of Urology where he was involved in research analyzing an institutional robotic, laparoscopic, and open prostatectomy database.  Dr. Lee already has an impressive number of publications on subjects that include evaluation of estimated blood loss and positive surgical margins in robotic and open radical prostatectomy.  His hobbies include running, surfing, hiking, and culinary arts.

Natalya Lopushnyan

Natalya Lopushnyan

Dr. Lopushnyan graduated from Yale University School of Medicine. She was acknowledged on the National Dean's List from 2001-2003, and was a part of the Golden Key Honor Society during that same year. Dr. Lopushnyan is not only fluent in the Russian language, but she is also fluent in Ukrainian. Her accomplishments include a Distinction in Biochemistry at the University of Massachusetts in 2003. Dr. Lopushnyan enjoys drawing, wine tasting, ice skating, and skateboarding.

Liam Macleod

Liam Macleod

Dr. Macleod graduated from Stanford University School of Medicine in June 2011. During his tenure at Stanford, Dr. Macleod received Stanford’s Medical Scholars Research Grant for clinical research on pediatric renal-bladder imaging and vesicoureteral reflux and for basic science research on wound healing. Dr. Macleod also received his Master’s in Public Health from Columbia University in May, 2006. His hobbies include gardening and anything that requires him to be outdoors.

Mathew Mossanen

Mathew Mossanen

Dr. Mossanen recently graduated from the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, where he performed research in the Department of Urology. He studied bladder reconstruction offering psychosocial and functional advantages for children with severe bladder dysfunction. Dr. Mossanen has a number of peer-reviewed journal articles, one of which he is a presenting author on the health literacy and disease understanding among aging women with pelvic floor disorders. His hobbies include running marathons, intramural basketball, and acoustic guitar.

Anup Shah

Anup Shah

Dr. Shah graduated from Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Shah’s presentations include a poster presentation on gastric bypass surgery as a mechanism for weight loss, and an oral presentation on the use of mesenchymal stem cells for tissue engineered vascular grafts. His personal interests include recreational baseball, playing the tabla, and vegetarian cooking.

Cheryl Shih

Cheryl Shih

Dr. Shih received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in May 2008, where she was nominated for the AOA Honor Medical Society, as well as the Gold Humanism Honor Society Baylor Chapter in August 2007. Her research experience includes evaluating patients with erectile dysfunction using the EndoPAT 2000, as well as collecting data on patients who are in the Erectile Perservation Program. Her hobbies are leather-bound journals and black ink pens, coffee and chicory, and stories from the American Civil War.

Chris Welty

Chris Welty

Dr. Welty received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University. During this time, he was the National Institutes of Health Research Scholar at Howard Hughes Medical Institute, as well as an Academy of Achievement Student Delegate. Dr. Welty has presented on the role of ABCB5 in melanoma and subcutaneous injection and had been working on clinical research projects in urologic oncology. His hobbies include playing golf, soccer, running, and playing guitar.

Brian Winters

Brian Winters

Dr. Winters received his medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine, where he received numerous awards including Junior AOA, OSLER TL1 Research Fellowship and the Golden Epithelial Award. He has published in the International Journal of Obesity and American Journal of Sports Medicine. Dr. Winters enjoys running, playing soccer, reading and spending time with family.
