General / Male Reconstructive / Trauma
Urology Service, Harborview Medical Center
Our team of urologic surgeons provides state of the art care for complex acute injuries and the delayed consequences of injury. As a Level I Trauma Center, Harborview provides trauma care for one quarter of the US landmass, including Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho. Our urologic surgeons work together with other Harborview physicians in the management of urological trauma. Drs. Voelzke, Wessells and Yang perform diagnostic testing and delicate reconstructive surgeries to restore function to the urogenital tract (kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra and genital organs). No other medical center in the Pacific Northwest can offer the depth and breadth of complex urogenital treatment expertise provided at Harborview. Combined with state-of-the-art urologic care, the urologists also conduct cutting edge research in the areas of care that they provide.
The Urology Clinic at Harborview Medical Center also provides general urology care, including treatment for male and female urinary problems, kidney stones and urologic cancers. The Urology Clinic health care professionals include urologists and physician assistants, nurses and medical assistants. In addition, the clinical staff includes patient care coordinators who will assist patients in managing their care, from initial referrals and clinic appointments, to surgery, and surgical aftercare. They work with patients and referring urologists to facilitate and coordinate "one stop" surgical care for those traveling from great distances. To provide the best care possible for our diverse patient population, the hospital provides interpreter services for a very wide range of languages.
