Cystectomy

Overview

The bladder is totally removed by the urologist together with the surrounding lymph nodes. In a man the prostate is also removed. In women most often the urterus and ovaries are also removed; sometimes part of the vagina must be removed also In selected cases with specific small tumors at the dome of the bladder, only part of the bladder is removed.
