Prostate Cancer Serine Protease Lab
Research Interests
We are very interested in studying the potential role of serine proteases in the biology of prostate cancer. Our goals are three-fold: (1) to make and biochemically characterize serine proteases secreted by the human prostate gland, (2) study the role(s) of Protease-activated Receptors (PARs) in prostate cancer progression, and (3) determine the expression pattern of serine proteases and PARs in prostate cancer.
Active projects
- Recombinant serine protease characterization of hK2, hK3, hK4, hK15.
- Analysis of PAR-1, PAR-2, PAR-4 cell-signaling.
- Immunohistochemistry of kallikreins and PARs in prostate cancer.
Current and Past Funding:
- Department of Defense - New Investigator Award for prostate cancer (DAMD - CDMRP grant)
- SMT scholar fund
- National Institutes of Health grant
