Dr. Salazar is one of our chief residents who graduated from Yale University School of Medicine, where he not only received his MD, but his PhD as well. Dr. Salazar is interested in pursuing a uro-oncology fellowship after his residency training. His presentations and publications include the topics of a BAR domain-containing protein linking dynamin to the actin cytoskeleton. His personal interests include playing the tuba. |

Dr. Sorensen is one of our chief residnets who received his medical degree at University of Colorado School of Medicine. His clinical interests include laparosocpic and endocscopic minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Sorensen’s publication topics range from prenatal bilateral extravaginal testicular torsion to a PHIS study on the evolution of vesicoureteral reflux management in the era of dextranomer/hyaluronic acid copolymer. |

Dr. Ginger graduated from University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, where she received the Pediatrics Clinical Scavenger Hunt Prize in 2004 and the Medicine Clerkship Quiz of the Week Prize in 2003. She has presented on the topic of chromatin fibers, including CyroElectron Microscopy of In Vitro Chromatin Fibers and Reconstitution of the 30-nm Chormatin Fibers. |

| Josephine
Hidalgo-Tamola
Dr. Hidalgo-Tamola received her medical degree at Washington University School of Medicine in Saint Louis, MO. She has a number of publications on different topics, including risk factors and outcomes of bone marrow transplantation supraventricular tachyarrhythmias after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and techniques of the development of an exophytic tumor model for laparosopic partial nephrectomy. Dr. Hidalgo-Tamola is currently keeping her options open in regards to clinical and academic interests in urology. |

A graduate of University of Washington School of Medicine, Dr. Gottsch has presented on topics such as ubiquitin stress response in rats with hibernating serum to MA effects of hibernation in bears on ubiquitin and IGF-1 mRNA. He is open to exploring the subspecialties of urology. Personal interests include scuba diving, photography, and gardening. |

Dr. Hotaling graduated from Duke University School of Medicine, where, in 2004, he received a Gold Star for excellence in patient care, as well as a scholarship for Bioengineering Research that same year. Dr. Hotaling is interested in pursuing pediatric urology. He has prepared several manuscripts, including one on improving prostate cancer detection and PSA screening in men under 50. He has several outdoor interests, ranging from participating in triathlons to high altitude alpine climbing. |

Dr. Shah graduated from Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Shah’s presentations include a poster presentation on gastric bypass surgery as a mechanism for weight loss, and an oral presentation on the use of mesenchymal stem cells for tissue engineered vascular grafts. His personal interests include recreational baseball, playing the tabla, and vegetarian cooking. |

Dr. Leddy graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, where she was selected as one of eight student members of the Admissions Committee. She was also awarded the Lettie Pate Whitehead Scholarship by the Medical School Foundation. Some of Dr. Leddy's research experience includes a pilot project on the relationship of renal cortical thickness and hydronephrosis in pediatric patients as an indicator of renal function. Some of her hobbies are backpacking, hiking, and cooking. |

Dr. Welty received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University. During this time, he was the National Institutes of Health Research Scholar at Howard Hughes Medical Institute, as well as an Academy of Achievement Student Delegate. Dr. Welty has presented on the role of ABCB5 in melanoma and subcutaneous injection and had been working on clinical research projects in urologic oncology. His hobbies include playing golf, soccer, running, and playing guitar. |

Dr. Avery recently received his medical degree from Oregon Health Sciences University School of Medicine. During this time, he was awarded the Tarter Trust Fellowship for his research about Deflux. He was also awarded the Rose Award which was given by a patient for recognition of outstanding care. Dr. Avery recently presented a case about an ureteroarterial fistula at the 2007 Western Section AUA Conference. His hobbies include bicycling, running, hiking, traveling, and cooking. |

Dr. Lopushnyan graduated from Yale University School of Medicine. She was acknowledged on the National Dean's List from 2001-2003, and was a part of the Golden Key Honor Society during that same year. Dr. Lopushnyan is not only fluent in the Russian language, but she is also fluent in Ukrainian. Her accomplishments include a Distinction in Biochemistry at the University of Massachusetts in 2003. Dr. Lopushnyan enjoys drawing, wine tasting, ice skating, and skateboarding. |

Dr. Shih received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in May 2008, where she was nominated for the AOA Honor Medical Society, as well as the Gold Humanism Honor Society Baylor Chapter in August 2007. Her research experience includes evaluating patients with erectile dysfunction using the EndoPAT 2000, as well as collecting data on patients who are in the Erectile Perservation Program. Her hobbies are leather-bound journals and black ink pens, coffee and chicory, and stories from the American Civil War. |

Dr. Chery recently graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in June 2009. His research experience includes being a student researcher in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he participated in radiation oncology research and examined the efficacy of different regiments for the treatment of breast cancer patients. |

| Ryan Hsi
Dr. Hsi recently graduated from the Loma Linda University School of Medicine where was awarded 1st place in a Scientific Poster Session at the Annual Postgraduate Convention in Loma Linda in 2008. He was also the recipient of the Walter E. Macpherson Society Student-Faculty Research Award that same year. Dr. Hsi has an impressive number of publications on subjects ranging from Mechanisms of Hemostatic Failure During Laparascopic Nephrectomy to Low Radiation Dosage CT Scan for the Detection of Small Renal Calculi. His hobbies include fishing, travel, and playing the violin. |
