  • VERY LITTLE EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH HAS BEEN PERFORMED ON THE FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE A RIDER'S ABILITY TO SAFELY PERFORM JUMPS AND TRICKS.

  • THERE MAY BE OPPORTUNITIES TO IMPROVE RIDER SAFETY THROUGH IMPROVEMENTS TO EQUIPMENT AND TERRAIN PARK DESIGN AS WELL AS RIDER EDUCATION.

  • IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE THESE IMPROVEMENTS, EXPERIMENTAL DATA IS NEEDED ON WHAT FACTORS INFLUENCE RIDER'S FLIGHT STABILITY AND SAFETY.

OUR MISSION
AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON APPLIED BIOMECHANICS LAB WE HAVE BEGUN A RESEARCH PROGRAM TO DETERMINE WHICH DESIGN ELEMENTS ARE MOST IMPORTANT TO TERRAIN PARK SAFETY.

OUR GOAL IS TO IMPROVE RIDER SAFETY WHILE MAINTAINING CREATIVE FLEXIBILITY IN TERRAIN PARK DESIGN.
