The Office of Retiree Relations exists to encourage the engagement of retired staff and faculty with the University. We also offer retirement transitions programming of interest to current employees.
The University of Washington Retirement Association (UWRA) is a membership-based nonprofit organization that operates under a Memorandum of Understanding with the University. The UWRA is governed by a board of directors and supported by member-volunteers. Under the terms of the MOU, the staff of Retiree Relations also staff the UWRA. UWRA members are retired staff and faculty members of the University, along with their spouses/partners. Current employees are also welcome to join the UWRA.
Retiree Relations/UWRA programs include educational, social and service activities. The UWRA awards annual scholarships to students pursuing careers related to aging (research or practice) and partners with The Graduate School to provide fellowships in aging-related research. Two .75 FTE employees staff the activities of Retiree Relations/UWRA.
