IM’s primary role is to provide for the technical infrastructure supporting University Advancement. Main areas of service include training and support on Advance, network administration, reporting, and application development. Work groups within IM are:
Advancement Training & Support (ATS)
ATS provides training and technical support for Advancement’s core applications including and primarily focusing on Advance, the alumni/donor database. ATS also trains and provides user support for Convio. Other services include ad hoc Advance data updates (via firstname.lastname@example.org), bulk data loads and audits, and network administration in support of Advance reporting and development of adjunct computing resources. Desktop support is provided in partnership with UW-IT’s Nebula group for the central Advancement staff including Alumni Relations.

The Reporting Group provides all internal and external reports regarding fundraising and alumni relations activities for the University of Washington. Reporting is delivered online via the Reportwriter.net reporting system, via standard published reports (eg. Advancement Report ), and by ad hoc request.

Strategic Technology Initiatives (STI)
STI is tasked with identifying Advancement-wide opportunities for technical improvement and creating solutions to help create efficiencies. Products that are currently in development within and supported by STI are the online giving website, HYDRA, Convio functionality and external data loading.
