License Plate Program

Rule the Road, Dawgs!

The University offers W license plates with the UW seal watermarked in the background of the plate. Maybe you’ve seen these awesome plates on the road? The best part is, license plate sales benefit student scholarships. $28/year from tag fees go to the UW’s general scholarship fund, where the money supports Husky Promise and other scholarships.

Here’s how it works:

The UWAA has a great offer: We’ll buy these $50 license plates for incoming freshmen, their parents, and graduating seniors, and all they have to do is pay the annual renewal rate of $30 each year they keep the plates. Each year $28 goes back to the Scholarship Fund (including the first year we’re picking up)!

NOTE: Anyone can purchase a plate, and $28 will come back to the scholarship fund each year. However, the UWAA will only pay for the first year for folks in these audiences. Others wanting to purchase a plate can find all the information they need on the UW Foundation’s License Plate page.

Here’s what you can do:

Advertise the license plates to your graduating seniors this spring, and your incoming freshmen this fall. We’ll add tools here to make that task easy-peasy. Below, you’ll find a ready-to-print flier, a widget to drop into your existing e-newsletters or communications, and copy you can use to communicate what the program is and how it works. In our experience, the more information you can give folks, the better the response rate. This includes DOL directions, the actual application, etc.
