Requesting Reports

To request an ad hoc (custom) report of data from Advance, the University’s alumni/donor database, you will need access to ReportWriter.Net. ReportWriter.Net is a reporting tool created and maintained by the Information Management (IM) unit of Advancement Services.

If you have an active Advance account or are already authorized to receive report information, you therefore have access to ReportWriter.NET.  Log in and click the link to “Request Reports.”

If you have not had Advance training or are a first-time user of our services, please complete the following three steps:

  1. Request an Entrust Token from UWIT if you don’t already have one.
  2. Fill out the Alumni-Donor Information Access Request form, checking the box for “Ad Hoc Report” or “GAR Report” according to your need under the heading, “I have requested the following access to Alumni/Donor Data,” and either FAX it to us at 5-8911 or send it via campus mail to Box 359504 immediately.
  3. Upon receipt, ATS will send you notification that you have been added to the online Canvas course on Confidentiality of Alumni/Donor Data.  After you complete the course quiz, we will notify you once your ability to receive/run reports is activated.

You will be notified by Advancement Training & Support when you have been granted access to ReportWriter.Net.

If you would like to request a report without gaining access to ReportWriter.Net, please email the IM Report Group directly.  Note that these types of requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis and are typically only granted to people in partner organizations who are not employees of the University of Washington.
