Call for Submissions

We are seeking submissions for an edited collection in disability
studies. It's our intent that this collection will advance those projects
designed to illustrate the socially and culturally constructed nature of
disability. It is our hope that this publication will make obvious at least

some of the obstacles faced by people with disabilities as they enter
institutions of higher education, and in this manner serve as a resource and

dignify the strength of people with disabilities. This collection will
privilege experience and autobiography in an effort to provide a community
through which future students can gain the courage, strength, and hope
they'll need for their journey. We would like to hear from people with
disabilities who have faced the challenges that accompany any form of
scholastic endeavor, whether you feel your efforts were successful or not.
Keep in mind that we are interested in your personal story the obstacles and
challenges you faced, how you faced them, and how the experience has changed
you and/or others.

Since people with disabilities obviously express their talents and
creativity through diverse media, it is our goal to represent that diversity

of talent in this collection. We envision the representative function of
our collection to be both multi-genre and autobiographical, welcoming
submissions from the following areas: creative nonfiction prose/poetry, both
traditional and nontraditional essays and memoirs, artwork, and photography,
as well as
submissions that combine and blend genres. We are asking that you limit
yourself only by your imagination.
