The Kornreich Technology Center is hosting a series of free, web-only
programs on issues in augmentative/alternative communication (AAC). You can
access these presentations from any internet-enabled computer.
TOPIC:
The first in the series, FUNDING OF AUGMENTATIVE/ALTERNATIVE COMMUNICATION
DEVICES THROUGH PRIVATE MEDICAL INSURANCE, discusses how you can obtain
coverage and funding for AAC devices from the most common types of medical
insurance policies.
SPEAKER:
LEWIS GOLINKER, Director of the Assistive Technology Law Center in Ithaca,
New York, is an attorney with 14 years experience securing funding for
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Devices from public and
private funding programs such as Medicaid and health insurers. He has
conducted more than 250 training sessions related to AAC and other assistive
technology funding, and has written widely on the subject of Medicaid and
insurance funding for AAC devices.

--In the first part of the program Iris Fishman, MA, CCC, SLP, Director of
the Kornreich Technology Center will interview the speaker about private
insurance funding for augmentative communication devices. Participants will
view the interview via live video on their own computers.
--The second part will be a question-and-answer session. If possible, in
advance of the date, please e-mail questions you may have for Mr. Golinker
to: ifishman@ncds.org <mailto:ifishman@ncds.org>. Also, participants may
type and submit questions during the interview segment. Mr. Golinker will
respond, live, to selected audience questions.
--For questions that remain after the video segment is completed, the
opportunity to continue to interact with the speaker will be available after
3:00 PM.
