Hello All:

My ISP just posted this on their site (
www.eskimo.com). I am posting it here for two reasons: It may be of interest to some on this list, and 2) I have had a very good interaction with the folks running Eskimo North for over 6 years now and am happy to pass their name on to others. [Note: I have no stake in Eskimo North other than being a happy customer.]

ASCII Dialup
We now have the capability of providing ASCII dialup dial plan C numbers and soon expect to have that capability with dial plan L as well. ASCII dialup is a service that will enable vision impaired people to use text-to-speech software without fossile drivers and allow people with dumb terminals to login to the shell without PPP. For those of you who have been with Eskimo a long time, this is the way the old V.34 numbers used to work.
