Access for All: Accessibility for the One-Stop Career Centers

Tech Connections audio conference
February 19, 2003
2:30 - 4:00 P.M. (EST)

Tech Connections' continuing series of audio conferences offers
individuals, schools, workforce development professionals and
rehabilitation agencies a cost-effective way of participating
in timely, informative training sessions to help keep
professionals and consumers knowledgeable about assistive
technology (AT).

The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 mandated the establishment
of a one-stop delivery system through which core employment-
related services are provided and through which access is
provided to other employment and training services. The programs
providing services through the one-stop system are referred to
as one-stop partners. Individuals with disabilities now have
the ability to access a continuum of employment related services
in an inclusive and accessible environment.

Join us as we explore accessibility at the One-Stop Career
Centers. Participants will have an opportunity to hear from a
distinguished and knowledgeable panel as they share their
expertise on issues related to access, protocol for auxiliary
aids and services, and the provision of assistive technology.

This session will include discussions on:
* The accessibility requirements at One-Stop Career Centers
* Incorporating AT to help meet accessibility requirements
* What an individual with a disability should expect when
  accessing services
* Potential partners and resources to enhance accessibility

This audio conference, which is part of a series of training
opportunities on assistive technology for vocational
rehabilitation professionals and the individuals they serve,
will focus on individuals working in the One-Stop Career
Centers. The audio conference will address accessibility issues
via fact sheets, case studies, a question and answer period,
and an expanded online discussion board.

Invited speakers:
* Wil Morales, Moderator
* Shelley Kaplan, Southeast DBTAC
* Bill N. Newroe, NM Division of Vocational Rehabilitation
* And Other Invited Guests

Participants can expect:
* Easily downloadable web-based handouts in various formats
* Web-based real-time captioning
* Q & A period
* CRC credits for audio conference and post-conference
  discussion forum
* Registration and handouts distribution via web and email
