University of Washington Center on Outcomes Research in Rehabilitation
(UWCORR): Focus Groups and Cognitive Interviews about measuring pain,
fatigue and physical function in people with disabilities and chronic
conditions
The purpose of this research study is to improve the measurement of health
issues/symptoms that relate to patients' quality of life. In this study we
will ask individuals who experience pain, fatigue, or physical limitations
to review questions that are currently used to measure symptoms and
reflect on these questions. Information from this study will be used to
develop questionnaires used by researchers and clinicians to measure
health-related well-being. We are conducting both focus groups and
one-on-one interviews. Approximately 25 participants will be enrolled in
the focus groups (six to eight participants per focus group), and
approximately 60 participants will be enrolled in individual interviews.
