SALARY: Range 49: $3,079 - $3,318 per month

POSITION PROFILE:
The Adaptive Technology Services (ATS) Coordinator will provide
technical leadership for the campus and community in the application and
the use of assistive technology. The DSS employee will coordinate
through research and analysis of disability limitations the appropriate
technology which will utilize strengths for best product application.
Evaluate and train students on the adaptive technology and orient
faculty and other campus staff to its use and application in labs,
service centers and classrooms.

The ATS Coordinator will work with Computing Services professionals,
Media Center and Library Services staff and computer lab managers to
insure consistency of assistive technology throughout the campus. He/she
will be a vital member of the DSS team working closely with team members
to provide excellent service delivery in all facets of course
modifications and auxiliary aids to comply with disability law, campus
pluralism efforts and adherence to BCC’s mission and vision statements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree AND 2 years of experience in providing helping
relationships in an educational, medical, or agency setting; or
substantive knowledge and experience in working with disabilities; and
administrative and technical expertise with adaptive equipment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups and a
demonstrated commitment to cultural pluralism.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Coordinate all aspects of the delivery of assistive technology
services at BCC.
• Coordinate the compliance of adaptive technology services with the
mandates of the ADA, Section 508 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
• Assess needs of students who need assistive technology services as
accommodations.
• Train all eligible students to use appropriate adaptive computer
software and other assistive technologies.
• Research current developments and trends in assistive technology
fields. Track costs for funding purposes.
• Train Computing Services technical support staff and Teaching
Assistants in computer labs to use adaptive computer software.
• Work with DSS staff in the changing field of alternative formats,
including developing e-text materials and computer software resources
for textbooks. Assist in the development of procedures for their use.
• Assist in the preparation and delivery of workshops, classes and/or
orientations in the use of technical or adaptive equipment.
• Test new releases of assistive software and report findings.
• Manage the conversion of printed material into alternate formats for
students as per E-text legislation.
