Insurance Coverage

The UW Autism Center is not a contracted (preferred) provider with most insurance carriers at this time. It is each family's responsibility to contact their insurance carrier to determine whether the service being provided by the assigned UWAC provider meets the criteria for reimbursement. Clients are responsible for all charges for services provided to them by the UWAC, and many insurance companies do not cover ALL services provided by the UWAC.

Insurance Claims

The UWAC submits insurance claims to clients' insurance providers as a courtesy service, but this does not relieve clients of their financial obligation for services rendered by the UWAC. A $300 deposit is required at the first visit for all diagnostic evaluations. Clients must obtain any required preauthorization and/or referrals required by their insurance carrier.

Services Provided by Postdoctoral Psychologists

The UWAC is a training facility, and a postdoctoral fellow may be involved in the treatment, evaluation, and testing of our clients; all testing will be supervised closely by a licensed psychologist.  Postdoctoral fellows have received their PhD or PsyD and have completed advanced clinical training prior to entering a fellowship in our program. Please note that treatment services provided by postdoctoral psychologists may not be covered by your insurance plan. As such, clients will be responsible for payment of these charges. You will be informed in advance if a post-doctoral psychologist has been assigned to you.

Please contact our billing coordinator at 206.616.2754 if you have any questions about your insurance coverage.
