STAT Training Workshops

STAT Workshops are offered periodically throughout the year. To inquire about upcoming training dates, please contact Laura Baker at bakerlf@uw.edu or 206-543-1051.

The Screening Tool for Autism in Toddlers and Young Children (STAT) is an empirically-based, interactive measure used to screen for autism in children between 24 and 36 months. It consists of 12 activities in the areas of play, imitation, and communication that can be administered by community service providers. Training on the administration and scoring of the STAT is available through one-day workshops. Workshop participants learn about the development of the STAT and core social-communication impairments in young children with autism, observe videotaped STAT administrations to practice scoring, and gain hands-on experience administering and scoring the STAT. Following the workshop, participants send in videotapes that illustrate their administration and scoring of the STAT. Certification is given after reliability is attained.
