\n<\/a>Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs)<\/strong><\/h3>\nWhat is an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE)?\u00a0<\/strong>
\nIf\u00a0a student’s family\u00a0disagrees with the results of an evaluation conducted by the school\u00a0district,\u00a0the family\u00a0may request an IEE at public (district’s) expense. An IEE is an evaluation conducted by a qualified examiner who is not employed by the school district responsible for the education of\u00a0the student.\u00a0 While a request for an IEE is not required to be in writing, a written request is encouraged because it can serve as documentation of when the\u00a0request was made. When\u00a0the request for an IEE is granted, the school district must provide\u00a0the family\u00a0with a list of names of possible examiners and provide the evaluation to\u00a0the student\u00a0at no cost.<\/p>\nFor more information on IEEs please visit the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction website at http:\/\/www.k12.wa.us\/SpecialEd\/Families\/Evaluations.aspx<\/a>.<\/p>\nIEEs at the UW Autism Center<\/strong>
\nThe UW Autism Center is currently able to offer behavior-related IEE evaluations such as functional behavior assessments (FBA) completed by a behavior analyst. Our clinicians are specially trained and possess the necessary skills, experience, education, and licenses or credentials to provide an IEE.
