Explore the watery side of the Arboretum on a Kayak tour
Join us for this end of summer tradition this weekend at the Washington Park
Arboretum as we tour our wetlands by kayaks generously loaned to us by
Agua Verde Paddle Club. All proceeds go towards our Saplings Scholarship
Fund that enables underprivileged students to take part in our
hands-on, science-based school field trip programs. Email tours@aguaverde.com to sign up!

Congratulations to Eve Rickenbaker!
The Hyde Herbarium Manager and graduate student from the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences was awarded the John A. Wott Fellowship in Plant Collection and Curatorship. Eve is currently completing research on UW Student Perception of the Washington Park Arboretum (pdf). Read more.

Glimpse of the past - origins of the Holmdahl Rockery

Verbal legends passed down by successive Arboretum staff indicated that
several attempts were made to “populate” the rockery, but all met with
ultimate failure, either due to the steep exposed terrain but mostly due
to thievery of the small specialized plants.
