Embedded Software Engineer

GENERAL SUMMARY:

We are currently looking for an Embedded Software Engineer in Redmond, WA for our R&D Sustaining Engineering team.  This individual will be responsible for developing medical device software in a regulated environment.  A software engineer contributes to projects, under the direction of the lead software engineer or architect.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

A software engineer must be capable of performing most of the following responsibilities:

Working closely with lead software engineer to implement software changes

Working closely with hardware engineers to troubleshoot software and circuit boards

Working closely with project engineers to meet project schedules, deliverables, and deadlines

Generating, refining, and maintaining software requirements & detailed design documentation

Implementing software and unit tests according to requirements & design documentation

Implementing and integrating embedded software on new and modified circuit board designs

Building software release packages and supporting deliverables that adhere to the quality system

Perform all other duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bacherlors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or relevant degree

2 years of directly related software programming/development experience.

Minimum 2 years experience and knowledge of C and C++

Demonstrated understanding of embedded software concepts, principles, and practices

Demonstrated understanding of and ability to follow good software development processes

PREFERRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Good verbal and written documentation and communication skills

Demonstrated experience developing and integrating deeply embedded software designs

Experience with one or more more POSIX-compliant real-time operating systems

Hands on experience with ARM processors (e.g. OMAP, i.MX) and controllers (e.g. MSP430, PIC)

Experience with Linux/Cygwin build environments (e.g. Make, Subversion, shell scripting)

Experience with Continuous Integration environments (e.g. virtual machines, Jenkins)

Time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Demonstrated ability to determine and meet project objectives

Personable, able to work well in an open team environment and with outsource partners

WORKING CONDITIONS:             

Office environment, extended hours as needed

Significant use (85%) of computer monitor, keyboard, and mouse

Minimal travel (under 5%)
