Tom Clement leads Cardiac Insight in targeting stroke risk

Cardiac Insight logoTom Clement has a strong history as one of the region’s top medical device entrepreneurs. In 1998 he co-founded Pathway Medical Technologies and served as CEO until 2008. Tom was also previously a founding employee at Heart Technology, which grew to more than $100 million in annual revenue and 550 employees before becoming acquired by Boston Scientific. Tom joined Cardiac Insight in 2011 after leading the Center for Commercialization’s New Venture unit.

Bellevue based Cardiac Insight has licensed research from the University of Washington lab of cardiologist David Linker and is working to develop a low-cost device to better detect the risk signs of stroke. The device is designed to diagnose atrial fibrillation, a cause of an estimated 90,000 strokes per year in the US.
