University of Washington Projects Selected for Recent LSDF Commercialization Grants
The Life Sciences Discovery Fund (LSDF) announced awards to three Washington non-profits, two of which involve UW research teams focusing on infectious disease. The UW winners will receive in total approximately $300,000 in LSDF Commercialization Grants. Winners were chosen from 13 proposals reviewed in the competition and will support the commercial development of new health-related products across Washington State.
The two UW-affiliated teams include UW Professor Philip Fleckman who will assess the effectiveness of a novel material for reducing infections associated with kidney dialysis catheters; and Dr. Darrell Fisher at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory who is working with the UW Medical Center to test an innovative technology for delivering high-dose radiation to solid tumors that cannot be removed surgically.
