Facilities Use Agreement
The Center for Computational Biomechanics (CCB) is available to University of Washington undergraduate and graduate students aimed at developing skills in the modeling of biologic tissues. This facility is a unique space offering graduate students high-end workstation cluster for solving their modeling questions while also providing dedicated classroom time for instruction on modeling in biomechanics. Since the CCB is based on an innovative philosophy, we ask your compliance with a few rules to help this center run smoothly for all.
By logging into the CCB workstations, you agree to abide by the following:
1. Use of common courtesy and appropriate personal conduct as defined in the “UW Student Handbook”.
2. The calendar on the scheduling tab of the website holds the CCB class reservation times. If a time is not reserved on this calendar then the center is open for general use. During reserved class times, all of the computers are reserved for that class.
3. During general use times, computers are on a first come, first serve basis. The Center is designed such that every display connected to the cluster will provide you with equivalent access to your personal profile and data.
4. As a student in the laboratory, you have unique profile within the Linux environment which you are free to visually customize. Once you leave the Linux environment for WindowsXP, we ask that you DO NOT customize WindowsXP as it is not user specific.
5. You are initially allocated 1 GB of disc space for saving your work. Should you require more, it can be granted given a request from the system administrator. It is your responsibility to backup your work on a USB device or burn it to a CD/DVD. The CCB is not responsible for lost files or documents.
6. Students may not install or delete ANY software on the computers; if there is a software package that you would like installed, please contact the system administrator.
7. Do not let others use your account; you will be responsible for any damage done or rules violation under your account.
8. Printing at the CCB is monitored. The printer is for CCB class assignments and authorized academic research only. Please limit your color printing when possible.
9. Exit all programs when finished and logout whenever you leave. Failure to do so may result in the loss of your work.
10. NEVER SHUT DOWN any of the computers! Since this is a dynamic cluster, all of the machines are linked and may be in use by others even though you are physically sitting at one terminal. If you have a problem, please contact the system administrator.
Violation of these policies will result in the suspension of privileges to work in the CCB.
Acknowledgment of this Facilities Use Agreement will enable full access and support within the Center for Computational Biomechanics. To acknowledge reading and adherence to these rules, please send an e-mail to the system administrator with your login name in the subject and “agree” in the text of the message.
