Andy shared an international perspective as he introduced strategies for educational change through sustained leadership.

Seminar III: Richard Elmore

Richard ElmoreOnly about a quarter of  fourth and eighth grade students are proficient at mathematics, with less than one-tenth being advanced, according to the 2007 NAEP study.  This fact, among others, created a sense of urgency for education leaders when shared by Dr. Richard Elmore from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.  The message was obvious, American students need to acquire the requisite knowledge and skills to contribute to the global economy.

Seminar I: Michael Fullan

Michael FullanCreating sustainable, large-scale reform within school districts is perhaps the most challenging task facing education leaders today. Michael Fullan, author and former Dean of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, presented at the CEL District Leaders Seminar Series to address this issue. Fullan outlines four conditions of sustainability that must be considered by leaders if true change is to occur within schools and school districts.
